FULL TIME POSITION – SUMMARY:
Under Management direction, provides hands on technical support to meet production requirements.   Analyze specifications, lay-out metal stock, set up and operate machine tools, and fit and assemble parts to make and repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists’ hand tools.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.
  • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
  • File, grind, shim, and adjust different parts to properly fit them together.
  • Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects.
  • Lift, position, and secure machined parts on surface plates or worktables, using hoists, vises, v-blocks, or angle plates.
  • Design, build, and maintain dies, jigs, and fixtures
  • Troubleshoot and repair tooling problems
  • Set-up and operate lathe, mill, saws, and surface grinders
  • Assist Specialist with department business plan
  • Achieves goals set forth by Newman Technology business plan

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to read, understand, and follow all ISO 14001 guidelines.
  • 2 years’ experience working as tool and die
  • Troubleshooting experience
  • Die repair experience
  • Mig and tig welding experience
  • Machining experience
  • Set up, operate and program CNC equipment
  • Set up, operate and program wire EDM equipment
  • Proficient in the use of Mastercam Software

Nonessential Skills and Experience (preferred):    

  • Computer literacy

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • The associate will spend 100% of their time meeting deadlines set by others.
