FULL TIME POSITION – SUMMARY:
Under engineering direction, provides hands-on technical support to meet production requirements. Analyzes specifications, lays-out metal stock, sets up and operate machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to make and repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists’ hand tools.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Studies blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.
  • Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
  • Files, grinds, shims, and adjusts different parts to properly fit them together.
  • Conducts test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Inspects finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects.
  • Lifts, positions, and secures machined parts on surface plates or worktables, using hoists, vises, v-blocks, or angle plates.
  • Designs, builds, and maintains dies, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs tooling problems.
  • Sets-up and operates lathe, mill, saws, and surface grinders.

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Journeyman Tool and Die Maker Certification
  • Able to read, understand, and follow all ISO guidelines both 9000 and 14001.
  • Troubleshooting experience
  • Die repair experience
  • Machining experience
  • MIG and TIG welding experience
  • Computer literacy
  • EDM, CAD/CAM

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The essential functions of this role are conducted in typical manufacturing environment, including exposure to the noise of manufacturing equipment.  This role features frequent periods of sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and occasional light lifting of up to 20 pounds.  This role may require the use of hand tools and fine manipulation in performing the essential functions of this position.
